On Monday, November 21, news spread quickly online that Kenya Mpya Bus Company, a major Matatu service provider, was auctioning off a fleet of buses with starting bids ranging from Ksh2 million to Ksh4 million.
The corporation is reportedly shifting toward buying electric buses.
“The buses will be sold at auction. The plan is to get rid of the buses so that we can make room for the new fleets we are buying.” said the cited source.
Anyone interested in purchasing a bus from them can reportedly go to their headquarters along the Eastern Bypass.
A company insider said, “We have a yard where we line up the fleet of buses and also trucks to present them to possible purchasers.”
The official further said that “in most situations, individuals interested are accompanied by a valuer who calculates the value of the bus before negotiations begin.”
