Kenya Power Announces Power Blackout in 9 Counties

On February 14, 2023, Kenya Power (KPLC) published a public warning predicting power shortages in Nairobi and eight additional counties on February 15, 2023. According to the power distributor, the power disruptions, which are projected to last eight hours beginning at 9:00 a.m., are the result of normal network maintenance.

Nairobi Affected Areas
South BS/Centre, Mariakani estate, Kenol, Elimu Sacco, Part of Golden Gate, Balozi estate, Mater hospital, Highway secondary school, KIMC, and South B police station would be affected by the maintenance.

Gacharage Affected Areas
Ruaka between Gacharage and Ndenderu Junction, National Oil Ndenderu, Shell Ndenderu, Banana, and surrounding communities will be impacted.

Kiambu Affected Areas
Kiambu county communities, including Kimende, Magina, Mirangi, Kirenga, Rivelco, and Kinale, would be without power from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., according to Kenya Power.

Regions Affected in Machakos

The outage would impact portions of Tala Market, Kangundo, Katwanyaa, Kambusu, and neighboring areas, as well as parts of Wote road in Machakos, including Mbembani, Ngiini, Kutuaa, Mutulani, Kola, and nearby areas.

Uasin Gishu Affected Areas
Parts of Uasin Gishu, including Kaptagat, Wonifour, and Lengwai, will also be without electricity until 4:00 p.m.

Kisumu Affected Areas
According to the power distributor, Kisumu regions like as K-City, Nightingale, Jalaram, Kisumu law courts, and the lands offices would be impacted.

Vihiga Affected Areas
Kiboswa market, Boyani, the Grand Royal Swiz hotel, Givole, and the surrounding districts will all be impacted.

Migori and Nyeri-affected areas
From 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, sections of Migori county, including Nyabisawa, Kababu, God Kwer, St Peter’s Abwao Secondary School, and parts of Nyamira, including Kerema, Nyangoge, and Kiabonyori regions, will be impacted. Ngaini and Hiringa regions impacted in Nyeri include Maganjo, Chieni, Thaithi, Mikundi, Kianjogu, and Kahiarini, as well as those next to Tetu, Kigogoini, and Ihwa.

Individuals in Need of Assistance
Individuals who are impacted by the power outages but are not in the aforementioned locations may seek help from Kenya Power through their social media profiles.
