Kenya has announced plans to build an international highway that will connect Mombasa to the Republic of Congo, with the aim of boosting trade between the two countries.
The project was discussed during a meeting between Kenyan Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen and his Congolese counterpart Jean Jacques Bouya.

According to a statement released by the Ministry of Transport, the highway will stretch from Mombasa to Brazzaville to Point Noire and facilitate the transit of goods, thereby boosting the economies of both countries.
The statement also revealed that the project will involve neighboring countries since the road will cross their borders before entering the Republic of Congo.
While the costs and timelines for the project were not disclosed, the ministry indicated that other key infrastructure projects, including the enhancement of aviation links between Kenya and Congo, were also discussed during the meeting.
If successful, the international highway will be among the few in the country, such as those in the Lamu Port-South Sudan-Ethiopia-Transport (LAPSSET) Corridor project.
