After a long hiatus, Kenyan boxing champion Conjestina Achieng is determined to make a comeback to the ring and reclaim her title.
In a recent statement, Achieng voiced her concerns about the poor state of health facilities for boxers and the lack of genuine sponsorship opportunities available to them.

Having retired from boxing in 2011, Achieng has since struggled with both financial and mental health issues.
In September 2022, she was admitted to the Mombasa Women Empowerment Network Hospital, where she has remained since her health and mental status deteriorated in July.
Thankfully, Achieng has not been alone on her journey towards recovery.
Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has been a source of support and encouragement for Achieng, visiting her regularly at the hospital and taking her to various rehabilitation centers.

Despite the challenges she has faced, Achieng remains determined to return to the ring and has called on the authorities to address the issues affecting boxers and improve their access to healthcare and sponsorships.
