Changes in the Senate leadership were announced by the Azimio coalition on Wednesday, which saw Isiolo Senator Fatuma Dullo being de-whipped as the minority whip.
Her successor, Narok Senator Ledama Olekina, will be assisted by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna.
The decision was prompted by Jubilee’s collaboration with President William Ruto’s government, which Azimio deemed inappropriate.
Senator Boni Khalwale of Kakamega has voiced his support for the Opposition’s move to remove Jubilee party members from Senate leadership posts.
According to him, Jubilee members acted inappropriately when they withdrew from the Azimio la Umoja Coalition, publicly expressing their dissatisfaction.
Khalwale stated that Jubilee lawmakers in the National Assembly and Senate are acting terribly, and he suggested that the party’s leaders in parliament should have been the first to resign.
Khalwale believes that the Jubilee party’s 30 members should not be allowed to join the Kenya Kwanza group and remain leaders on the other side (Azimio).
He also commended Raila Odinga’s actions during the recent press conference, stating that what he did was completely correct.
Earlier this week, Jubilee elected leaders decided to dismiss Secretary-General Jeremiah Kioni, Vice Chairman David Murathe, and Treasurer Kagwe Gichohi from their positions.
A temporary team chaired by EALA MP Kanini Kega, Eldas MP Aden Keynan, and Kitui South MP Rachel Nyamai took their position.
