Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai was reportedly assaulted by former Kisumu MCA Jacktone Ojwang at a local hotel in Kisumu on Sunday night, February 12. The detectives from Kisumu Central Police Station reported the incident, and Alai alleged that Ojwang approached him and headbutted him, resulting in a fight between the two. A witness on the scene said that it was the hotel staff who intervened to restore order.

Kisumu County Commissioner Josephine Ouko confirmed that investigations had been initiated after Alai recorded a statement outlining the event, and police officers were on their way to investigate the motivation behind the alleged attack.
Reports indicate that the altercation was due to a tweet by Alai about defilement charges. Ojwang was reportedly enraged by the tweet, leading to the spat between the two lawmakers. Alai had asked the detectives and Kisumu Governor Anyang Nyong’o to look into the defilement charges against Ojwang while filing the statement with the police.
It is not clear whether any arrests have been made in connection with the incident, and the investigation is ongoing.
