Kimani Mbugua’s mother, Peris Wanjiku, has spoken out after her son pleaded with them to come get him from Mathare hospital.

Wanjiku told Elizabeth Ngigi, a reporter from Mpasho, that her kid was still receiving therapy at the hospital. She said that Kimani’s problems stem from her frequent usage of marijuana.

Wanjiku continued, saying that in August her husband took her only son to Mathare Hospital, but that he was OK after receiving medication.

Her main concern is that her son may escape when they bring him home from the hospital.

His family also said that they were trying to fix some problems with NHIF on his behalf because his card was not working.

They denied that they had ignored their son.

Kimani took to Twitter on October 12th in the morning to persuade his followers to get in touch with his parents, who had abandoned him in Mathare hospital as punishment.

I appeal to all people who know me to kindly appeal to my parents to let me out of Mathare Hospital. I came here after a brief psychotic episode on the 4th of August and was discharged on the 10th of the same month. My parents have left me here to punish me.
