Kinoti faces arrest as DPP is under pressure to resign.

In light of Noordin Haji’s admission that former DCI George Kinoti presented charges without specific evidence, he is under increasing pressure to resign from his position as Director of Public Prosecution.

“We soon learned that the DCI was not sincere about providing evidence in support of its cases. Which is why there was tension between the two departments. If a case didn’t satisfy our criteria, we couldn’t move forward with it. They didn’t have enough proof to submit in court.” stated Haji.

A group of lawmakers with ties to the Kenya Kwanza demanded that Kinoti, who resigned after President William Ruto took office, be arrested.

Led by Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba, they claimed that the former DCI boss was behind plot to frame Ruto supporters with criminal charges.

“Some influential people were giving DCI Kinoti directives to apply selective justice. Can you recol Kamata Friday? To ensure that they persecuted certain people solely due to their political beliefs,” Gathoni stated.

However, Senator Samson Cherargei of Nandi County argued that both Kinoti and Haji should be held responsible for their actions. To back up his assertions, Cherargei said that Haji could have alerted authorities sooner if he had tried.

“It has been reported that DPP Haji, who is inseparable from former DCI Kinoti, has declared that all cases, including mine, were political. Even though he understood it was political persecution, he allowed me to be arrested, detained, and prosecuted repeatedly. The good Muslim in him should not have allowed it.” kenya kwanza legislator stated.

“Why is DPP Haji still in office if he has admitted to violating the rights of people who had no business being in court in the first place and the Constitution? Resigning would be the morally correct action for him to take.” Kajwang insisted.
