Suspect Uses Jembe to Hack Police Officer
In Kisii, a guy was arrested after allegedly assaulting a police officer with a jembe. The officer, who was hospitalized at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital (KTRH), was compelled to shoot the suspect in “self-defense,” according to the regional police chief.
The Events That Led Up to the Attack
Hassan Bashir, the Masaba North Sub-County Police Commander, verified the terrible incident and recounted the events leading up to the attack. A squad of police officers led by a senior sergeant was on duty to arrest the suspect, according to Commander Bashir. Officers were looking for the suspect after he allegedly cut off his neighbor’s hand in Gesima, Kisii County. The security officers ambushed the suspect after receiving a tip regarding his whereabouts.
When the cops awoke the suspect, he became angry and attacked one of them. The officer received a serious cut to the skull and a shattered arm. Commander Bashir revealed that the officer then shot at the suspect to disable him before arresting him.
Both the cop and the suspect were taken to Keroka Sub-County Hospital for emergency care before being transferred to KTRH. Both the police and the suspect were said to be in good health.
