Kisumu bans car washing in the CBD

    Published on

The county administration of Kisumu has prohibited vehicle washing in Lakeside city in an effort to protect the local ecosystem.

Car wash owners were given two days’ notice by the county to evacuate their locations.

Abala Wanga, the city manager, has announced a major citywide Greening effort.

In keeping with the county’s goal over the next five years on increasing service delivery via expanded infrastructure projects, Abala said that this program was designed to make the city livable and environmentally pleasant.

Unauthorized vehicle wash spots, he claimed, are a major hindrance to these plans since they damage roadways and block pedestrians’ paths.

In the case of non-compliance, management shall enter the premises and remove the carwash equipment, without further consultation with the owner, and at management’s expense.
