Kithure Kindiki: Kenya airports’ security systems need to be upgraded.

    Published on

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki announced plans to strengthen security at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA). Kindiki was with high-ranking security officials including Noor Gabow, the acting inspector general of police, and Amin Mohamed, the director of criminal investigations.

In July 2022, the United Nations’ International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) conducted an assessment of JKIA and found that the airport’s security measures were among the best in the world.

The safety precautions at Mombasa’s JKIA and Moi International Airport are attributed to the score, the highest in Eastern and Central Africa.

The United Nations agency evaluated JKIA and Moi based on their Global Aviation Security Plan (GASeP).

Later, Kindiki met with South Africa’s Pakishe Motsoaledi, minister of home affairs, and Ronald Lamola, minister of justice and correctional services.

Before South African President Cyril Ramaphosa’s official arrival, the two paid the nation a visit. Wednesday, November 9 is set to be Ramaphosa’s arrival date in Kenya.
