Makueni’s outgoing governor, Kivutha Kibwana, has joined the Kenya Kwanza Alliance, which will be headed by President-elect William Ruto.
On the evening of August 23, Prof. Kibwana met with Ruto at his Karen home, after his participation in the Kenya Kwanza.
In the presidential petition filed at the Supreme Court of Kenya, Prof. Kibwana will also be representing Ruto.
As part of his plan to strengthen his party’s majority in the House and the Senate, Ruto has pledged to conduct a full-scale raid on Azimio La Umoja and poach the group’s members and senior leaders.
On August 20, Ruto told Kenya Kwanza leaders in his Karen home that he had attracted UDM members and independent MPs-elect to his side in order to get support and enact legislation that would enable him fulfill his campaign pledges.
He said that he required a majority in the National Assembly to enact legislation that would allow him to deliver on campaign promises like the Hustler Fund to the Kenyan people.
The president-elect went on to say that he has a comprehensive legislative agenda and is looking for a way to exert influence on the National Assembly.
