KMTC students to start receiving HELB loans.

    Published on

Thanks to a new agreement between HELB and Kenya Medical Training College, HELB loans will be made available to Kenya Medical Training College students.

Students from low-income families are prioritized for financing. “We have received the first Sh170 million and we urge eligible students to apply,” said KMTC board director Zachary Muburi-Muita.

However, Zachary Muburi advised students to look for other sources of money and to do genuine jobs to boost the amount, since it may not be enough.

As part of the agreement, HELB will act as the college’s fiscal agent and handle all incoming financial resources.

It will also establish the guidelines and conditions for the provision of funding.

Kelly Oluoch, the KMTC CEO, expressed appreciation to the government for their consideration of the college.

According to Oluoch, the money will be a lifesaver for a large number of students who are struggling to pay their college tuition.

Approximately 49,000 students have received loans in the past, as reported by HELB CEO Charles Ringera.

Prior to USAID’s withdrawal, KMTC students benefited from Afya Elimu, a fund that provided loans and grants.
