Caleb Kipkemei Kositany, a former Member of Parliament for Soy Constituency, has taken to social media to address recent rumors of his appointment as Kenya’s Ambassador to the United States of America. In a statement, Kositany emphasized that the only official source for such an announcement would be President William Ruto and he has yet to receive any such communication.
The former lawmaker, who is an outspoken supporter of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), hinted that the reports of his appointment could be just rumors. He advised members of the public to ignore these unverified claims and emphasized that government appointments are only made through a gazette notice.
Kositany also shared a Facebook post in response to a user who claimed that he had been appointed as ambassador. Despite addressing these reports, Kositany did not give a clear answer on the authenticity of the rumors.
Before his rumored appointment, Kositany served as a Member of Parliament for Soy Constituency, where he lost to his close challenger Jonathan Bii in the Uasin Gishu UDA gubernatorial nomination race. Kositany was seeking to succeed Jackson Mandago as Uasin Gishu Governor but gave up on this race after the UDA nominations.
Despite his loyalty to President William Ruto, Kositany has yet to receive any rewards for his efforts, including during the August 2022 General Election. As the rumors of his appointment continue to circulate, many are left wondering if Kositany will finally be recognized for his efforts by President Ruto.
