KRA Auctions Off over 400 Vehicles; Bidding Instructions

    Published on

Over 440 automobiles stored in various customs warehouses throughout Kenya will soon be put up for sale according to the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).

The authorities said the car owners had ignored a notice to pay taxes and other fees before their vehicles were seized.

Rose Mureithi, KRA’s top manager in charge of port operations, said that the owners had been given until Thursday, December 15 to pay off their debts and retrieve their cars.

Volkswagens, Mitsubishis, Subaru Foresters, Lexuses, Nissan Notes, Nissan X-Trails, Mazda Cx-5s, Proboxes, Subaru Legacies, Toyota Vits, Honda Fits, and Mercedes-Benzes are just some of the makes and models represented here.

There are also the Toyota Harrier, Suzuki Alto, Audi A3, Toyota Crown, Peugeot, Mazda Demio, Toyota Hiace, Volvo S60, Toyota Wish, BMW X5, Subaru Imprezza, Land Rover Range, and Cruiser Prado.

Vehicles aren’t the only things that fall under the category of “surplus”; additional examples include promotional goods, building supplies, culinary items, apparel items, replacement parts, furniture, home theater systems, and electronics.

If you’re interested in bidding, you may see the whole list in the Gazette notice issued in Volume CXXIV, Number 238.

Prices are often kept secret until the day of the auction when they are revealed to the public.

However, the sale would be subject to fair pricing based on aspects including the vehicle’s type.

All potential bidders must personally show up to the Customs Warehouse on either Tuesday, December 13, or Wednesday, December 14, to take part in the auction.

Once they have made their selection, they will be given a paper listing the costs of the available cars and other merchandise. A banker’s check or cashier’s check in the amount of a refundable deposit per car type is required in order to be issued a bidding number.

The winning bidder gets the car (or whatever else is up for auction).
