Labour Court suspends CAS positions creation

    Published on

The formation of the position of Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) in the public sector has been put on hold by a Labour Court.

In response to an application by the Law Society of Kenya, Employment and Labour Court Judge Monica Mbaru issued the injunction. She ordered LSK to serve the public service commission and the attorney general with the application by October 14th.

According to LSK, the public is being denied a voice on whether or not the Principal Secretary and the CAS should have overlapping responsibilities because of a lack of transparency on the CAS’s intended office.

The introduction of CAS positions, according to LSK, would waste public money on pay and related costs.

On October 24, there will be a hearing directing a discussion on this subject.

Nevertheless, the public service commission has encouraged applications for CAS positions.

Anthony Muchiri, the head of the Public Service Commission, stated on Wednesday that applicants have until October 27 at 5 o’clock in the afternoon to submit their applications.
