Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i and his lawyer Danstan Omari have been cleared of all charges by the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The charges against the two were conspiracy to commit a felony and publication of false information, which were a result of allegations of an invasion at Matiang’i’s Karen home on February 8.
However, the evidence provided by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations was not sufficient to sustain the charges, according to a statement issued by the Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Lilian Obuo.
The DCI had submitted recommendations for charges against Matiang’i and Omari, but the ODPP found no reason to charge Matiang’i after reviewing the evidence and statements from witnesses.
The High Court had also extended orders barring the DCI from summoning Omari over the alleged raid until April 18.
