Lawyer Danstan Omari has confirmed that his client, former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, travelled to the United Kingdom to attend to family matters.
Omari stated on Wednesday, March 1, that Matiang’i left the country on Sunday, February 19, and would return in two weeks.

He refuted reports that his client fled the country to avoid DCI summons, urging Kenyans to stop speculating.
The Immigration Department wrote to the DCI the previous day, informing them of Matiang’i’s absence from the country.
He had been summoned on February 24, but the summons was issued after he had already left the country.
