Danstan Omari, a city lawyer, has announced that he will not be attending his scheduled meeting with the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) on Wednesday.
Instead, the meeting has been rescheduled for Thursday.
Omari explained that he has more than 15 cases scheduled for Wednesday that require his presence in court to represent his clients.
He informed the DCI that he would not be able to attend and that the meeting had been rescheduled.
The DCI had summoned Omari on Tuesday to investigate allegations of publication of false information in connection with a raid at the home of former CS Fred Matiang’i.
Omari claimed that Matiang’i’s life was in danger during the raid and that he did not understand the reasons behind the raid or where they were taking him.
However, the police and EACC detectives denied involvement in the alleged raid.
Omari’s decision not to attend the scheduled meeting suggests that he may have other pressing matters to attend to.
It remains to be seen whether his rescheduled meeting with the DCI will proceed as planned.
Legal circles have raised questions about the DCI’s motives and the legality of the charges against Omari.
The situation remains unclear, and we will have to wait to see how it unfolds in the coming days.
