Ledama Olekina, a senator representing Narok, has asked President William Ruto to reverse his order allowing the production of genetically modified organisms (GMOs).
The lawmaker warned of several dangers to human health posed by GMOs.
He continued by saying that growing GMO food would cause soil degradation.
Last month, Ruto ended a 10-year ban on the import or open production of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) in Kenya.
Ruto suggested that this would boost domestic food and animal feed output.
