Nairobi, Kenya – The fate of former TV anchor Jacque Maribe and ex-lover Joseph Irungu ‘Jowie’ will be determined today as High Court judge Grace Nzioka delivers her ruling in the murder case of businesswoman Monica Kimani.
“Case Comes to a Head in Nairobi High Court”
The two accused, who were charged with murder in 2018, urged the court to acquit them in December of last year, citing lack of evidence. In their final submissions, Maribe and Jowie claimed that they were maliciously charged and that Monica might have been killed by an unknown man.

However, the prosecution, led by Assistant DPP Gikui Gichuhi, dismissed their statements, stating that the prosecution had proved beyond reasonable doubt that the two jointly and severally murdered Monica. Gichuhi referred to all events leading to the murder and subsequent “lies” made up by Maribe to the police as evidence that she had planned with Jowie to kill Monica.
Today’s ruling will bring closure to a case that has captivated the nation for several years. Regardless of the outcome, the case has shed light on the importance of thorough investigations and the need for justice to be served in cases of violent crime.
