On Friday, September 23, a truck carrying bales of Unga overturned on Mombasa Road, causing residents and passers-by to stampede for the goods.
Bales of maize flour were strewn all over the roadway after the incident, with some even falling into the ditch.
There was a queue of boda boda riders at the front who were responsible for loading the bales onto their motorcycles. Some drivers got out of their cars, too, in a mad dash to get the commodity, which can be purchased for anywhere between Ksh200 and Ksh250 per 2-kilogram package right now.
The uproar and chaos that ensued along Mombasa road caused some of the lanes to get blocked, which in turn caused traffic to become disrupted along the major route.
