Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma plans to introduce a bill that would increase penalties for homosexuality and other unnatural sex acts, and would further criminalize their promotion in Kenya to protect the family in accordance with the Constitution.

The proposed law would consolidate existing laws relating to unnatural sexual acts and increase the penalty for those convicted to life imprisonment.
National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula warned that institutions must uphold and protect public morals and said that the Supreme Court pronouncement may lead to unintended and unhelpful consequences.
The local LGBT community fears that if the proposed law is passed, it could lead to further discrimination and violence against them.
