Nairobi Water (NCWSC) Unveils Self-Reading Meters and E-Bill Services

Date:

Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company Limited (NCWSC) has introduced a new and innovative solution for customers to read their own water meters and obtain water bill statements. The company has made this possible through their new online self-meter reading service which is accessible via Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) code or online portal.

The online service allows customers to easily read their own meters and access their water bill statements after the 15th day of each month. To access the service, customers can dial *888#, choose option 4 on the menu and follow the prompts. The process of reading one’s own meter is simple and straightforward.

The NCWSC also reminded customers that they should still allow access to their staff to perform monthly meter readings. The new service is meant to supplement the existing monthly meter reading process and improve the overall experience for customers.

In addition to the self-meter reading service, customers can also access their water bill statements through the NCWSC online portal. New customers can easily register for the service by visiting portal.nairobiwater.co.ke and filling in their details. After registering, customers should verify their email address and proceed to log in. The service can be accessed by clicking the Self-Care tab and double-clicking “Get Statement.”

The USSD code also offers several other services, including the registration of E-bills, querying and paying bills, Tambua Service, Water and Service Connections, editing of accounts, and Nairobi Water Contacts. This makes it easy for customers to manage their water and sewer connections from the comfort of their own homes.

NCWSC has stated that the new service is part of the ongoing reforms meant to simplify and improve the process of applying for and paying for water and sewer connections. The government of Kenya is working to simplify the process of setting up businesses in the country, and the automation of water and sewer connections is a key part of this initiative.
