Najib lands a top job After missing in Ruto’s cabinate

    Published on

After missing out on a spot in President William Ruto’s government, former Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala has obtained a senior role with a global wildlife conservation organisation.

Balala played a crucial role as Kenya’s Tourism Cabinet Secretary in fostering sustained expansion and improvement in that sector across Kenya and Africa.

As Tourism CS in 2018, Balala oversaw the formulation, rollout, and execution of the National Wildlife Strategy 2030, a plan to revolutionize Kenya’s approach to wildlife conservation, as well as the rollout and implementation of the Wildlife Policy 2021.

After remaining silent and focused on his work during the 2022 campaign season, when his colleagues were actively campaigning for the Azimio One Kenya Alliance presidential candidate, Balala was one of the CSs in the Uhuru government who were likely to secure positions in the Ruto government.

In his role as vice president of FFI, Balala will draw on his background in animal conservation and tourism to help the organization expand its international reach and strengthen its collaborations in the years to come.
