Nairobi, Kenya – A prominent Kenyan lawyer, Nelson Havi, has been appointed as the new Chairperson of the Retirement Benefits Authority (RBA) for the next three years. The announcement was made by the Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury and Economic Planning, Njuguna Ndung’u, and was published in a recent gazette notice.
“Leading Lawyer Takes on New Role in Government”
Havi, who previously served as the president of the Law Society of Kenya, will now lead the RBA board, effective from February 10. This appointment comes after his failed bid for the Westlands parliamentary seat in the August 2022 general election, where he contested on a United Democratic Alliance ticket but lost to incumbent Tim Wanyonyi.

“Former Bomet East MP Appointed to Local Authorities Provident Fund Board”
In addition to Havi’s appointment, former Bomet East MP, Beatrice Kones, has been appointed as a member of the Local Authorities Provident Fund board. She will serve for the next three years and will be responsible for overseeing the administration of the provident fund. The appointment of Kones replaces Haro Guyo Okola, whose appointment was revoked by CS Ndung’u.
These recent appointments demonstrate the government’s commitment to making changes and bringing fresh perspectives to key positions. Havi and Kones bring with them a wealth of experience and knowledge, and their appointments are sure to have a positive impact on the organizations they will be leading.
