In the event that he is not chosen as former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s running mate in the Azimio One Kenya alliance, Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka will run for president on August 9.
Daniel Maanzo, a Makueni Member of Parliament, revealed that the party has already collected signatures and is prepared to put Kalonzo in the August elections if things do not go their way.
He also said that the party has decided on a possible running mate for Kalonzo, whose name would be submitted to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) before the Monday, May 16 deadline.
According to Kalonzo associate, the party was backing Raila’s candidacy in the hopes of receiving the running mate position, which had been agreed with President Uhuru Kenyatta and the ODM chief.
He went on to say that they don’t understand why his party leader was put to interviews despite being the greatest choice for the role.
