For the late former President Emilio Stanley Mwai Kibaki’s funeral ceremony on Friday, April 29, the National Police Service has advised traffic disruptions on four major roads in Nairobi.
Kenyatta Avenue, Uhuru Highway, and Aerodrome Road would be affected, said police spokesperson Bruno Shioso. Starting at 7 a.m., the inconvenience begins.
This may disrupt traffic flow on crowded Mombasa Road and other roads near the authorized highways.
Police have encouraged motorists to avoid congested areas.
Those coming from Mombasa Road or Westlands might use the Southern Bypass, or Likoni Enterprise and Lusaka Roads.
Police said only vehicles with stickers may park within Nyayo National Stadium. Parking is accessible outside the stadium at Lang’ata Road Primary School and Green Park Bus Terminus for those without stickers.
The late Kibaki’s state funeral will be held at Nyayo Stadium. His remains will then be driven to Othaya, where he will be buried in a private ceremony.
