A nominated ward representative, Joyce Jamosa, swore by Azimio leader Raila Odinga, momentarily delaying the swearing-in process of Nairobi County MCAs.
MCA member swore allegiance to her party leader, reading, “I Joyce Jamosa Lugonzo do swear in the name of the almighty God that I will always be loyal to my party leader.”
On Thursday, September 29, while reading out an already prepared oath, Jamosa veered off script to swear allegiance to Raila, who is also the head of the ODM, the party that nominated her to the parliament.
Laughter and jeering broke out among the crowd as the judicial authorities giving the oath checked to see whether they had given her the incorrect printed oath.
Consequently, Edward Gichana, the Clerk of the Nairobi County Assembly, requested that she retake the oath with her favorite holy book held in her right hand.
