On March 9th, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party renewed its efforts to discipline members of the National Assembly whom they perceive to be party rebels.
Opiyo Wandayi, the Minority Leader, issued a warning to members of the Kenya Kwanza coalition to stop frustrating the party’s efforts to bring order.
While Wandayi acknowledged making a statement directed at the leadership of the House, he refuted media reports that ODM had written a formal letter to Speaker Moses Wetangula seeking his help in the matter.

Edwin Sifuna, the ODM Party Secretary General, confirmed that he did not generate any such letter.
However, the party is seeking to de-whip various MPs from committees of the National Assembly, including Kisumu Senator Tom Ojienda and Felix Odiwuor, also known as Jalang’o.
On March 8th, the ODM also de-whipped a number of Kisumu County Members of the County Assembly who visited Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo.
