On August 3, the 26-year-old sprinter made history by being the first Kenyan to win the 100-meter event at the Commonwealth Games in almost 60 years.
The 100-meter dash champion was named LG SJAK Sports Personality for August.
After two wins, Omanyala is aiming to tie or surpass Angela Okutoyi’s record of three trophies.
Defending champion Akani Simbine of South Africa was dethroned to silver in 10.13 seconds by Omanyala’s time of 10.02 seconds.
Omanyala was gifted a Sh105,000 LG washing on Thursday, curtesy of LG.
“It’s such a great feeling winning the award twice within a space of 12 months. My success in Birmingham will no doubt continue to inspire and encourage many Kenyans over and above paving the way for many other local sprinters to come through,” he said.
“I feel a lot motivated to keep improving my personal best of 9.77 seconds given that I have two gold medals and an Africa record,” added Omanyala.
