Starting on Monday, the Appointed Committee in the National Assembly will begin its review of candidates for Cabinet Secretary.

Speaker Moses Wetang’ula made the announcement on a Wednesday afternoon.

On Thursday, he added, the committee would get a rundown of their responsibilities.

The appointments committee, which was debated and approved a few minutes ago, will meet tomorrow, Thursday, October 13, 2022, at 11 a.m., at County Hall mini chamber to get a briefing on their work and consider the vetting schedule for them to begin vetting cabinet nominees on Monday,

    Wetang’ula said.

The committee is made up of the Speaker, the Deputy Speaker Gladys Shollei, the Leaders of the Majority and Minority, Kimani Ichung’wah and Opiyo Wandayi, and their respective Deputy Leaders, Owen Baya (Kilifi North) and Robert Mbui (Kathiani).

Representatives David Gikaria, Dido Ali Raso, Gitonga Murugara, Rahab Mukami, and Nelson Koech are also included.

In addition to Junet Mohamed from Suna East, the list also includes Ferdinand Wanyonyi from Kwanza, Mary Emaase from Teso South, Rahim Dawood from North Imenti, Caleb Amisi from Saboti, and Stephen Mule from Matungulu.

Mishi Mboko of Likoni, David Pkosing of Pokot South, Abdi Shurie of Balambala, and Naisula Lesuuda of Samburu West are also on the committee.

The 22 candidates for the future Cabinet that President William Ruto had proposed will be evaluated by the committee.

The House will review the nominees and confirm them before it forwards the names to the President for confirmation.
