On Tuesday, Kenyan authorities prohibited local media from covering an event featuring American billionaire Bill Gates.

Onesmus Nzokya, a public relations official in Makueni County, has said categorically that only BBC journalists would be granted access to the event for reporting purposes.

Media outlets may get more information of the event by contacting the Public Relations staff,

    he added.

They assured everyone that they would provide the local media outlets with more information regarding the event after it had concluded.

While in Kenya, Gates is scheduled to speak at a number of events.

The Microsoft co-founder is scheduled to meet with public and private sector representatives.

Gates will be welcomed by Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jnr. on his tour of Makueni County.

The Kathonzweni Health Centre and the Makueni Mother and Child Hospital are reportedly on his schedule.
