Finally the first meeting of the Nairobi City County Assembly will take place on Thursday, September 29, according to a gazette notification from the office of the Nairobi governor.
During the session that will commence at 9:00 a.m., the MCAs will be sworn in before electing the county assembly’s speaker and vice-speaker.
Azimio has previously endorsed former Nairobi County Assembly Deputy Speaker Ken Ngondi, while Kenya Kwanza has endorsed former speaker Benson Mutura.
With 67 MCAs, Azimio has a small majority in the legislature, whereas Kenya Kwanza has 53 MCAs and only 3 independent MCAs.
