According to Minority Leader Opiyo Wandayi, Azimio leader Raila Odinga has canceled planned alternative Jamhuri Day festivities at the Jacaranda grounds.
The planned engagements that would keep the party’s senior officials away in the days leading up to Jamhuri Days and for a few days following have caused the cancellation, according to Wandayi.
Thursday saw Wandayi make the declaration.
He said that when the announcement of concurrent festivities was made, the engagements by their leaders were still pending confirmation.
The People’s Dialogue, he stated, “will continue in one form or another, in public or private, in the next days, weeks, and months in various regions of the nation. We repeat this even with the cancellation of the concurrent festivities.”
The Ugunja MP reaffirmed the opposition’s dedication to maintaining pressure on President William Ruto’s government to make sure it fulfills its commitments to Kenyans.
“As Azimio, we pledge to keep fighting alongside one another until the Ruto government returns to what the people really care about,” he concluded.
