Part of Thika Super Highway closed due to an accident at the Chania River Bridge.

Date:

Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) issued a warning about the closure of a section of Thika Super Highway due to an accident at Chania River Bridge near Blue Post Hotel.

KeNHA advised drivers heading to Nairobi from Kenol to find alternative routes.

Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) acknowledged concerns raised on social media about the safety of Chania River Bridge barrier in Thika, Kiambu County.

KURA removed the barrier to protect the historically ornamental bridge built in 1936 from heavy vehicles.

KURA urges drivers with heavy vehicles to use alternative roads provided, including the newly constructed Thika Northern bypass.
