The matatu driver was seen on video brandishing a panga at a passing motorist, prompting the National Police Service to seize the vehicle.
According to Police Spokesperson Bruno Shioso, the matatu with 14 seats was seized at Kiamaiko on Monday, October 17.
The driver disappeared shortly after the event on Sunday, October 16, and his whereabouts are now unknown.
The short video showed the driver, wearing a white turban, pursuing the motorist with a machete and smacking the car’s bonnet.
The dispute arose when the matatu, which had been illegally crossing on the wrong side of the road, sought the right of a pass from the driver of the personal car.
After the motorist refused to let him through, the driver exited the matatu with a machete and confronted the private automobile.
There has been no report on whether or not anybody was hurt in the event.
