Police from Special Operations Unit commits suicide in Lamu

    Published on

A member of an elite police unit working out of the Lamu camp committed suicide.

Edwin Kuria was discovered dead in a temporary home he and his coworkers had been using.

On Tuesday afternoon, at 4 o’clock, he presumably shot himself to death with a coworker’s AK-47.

They say Kuria, who was part of the Special Operations Unit stationed in Lamu, shot himself with a burst of four bullets.

The deceased was recovered in a residence that cops had used as cover, lying in a pool of blood.

Four bullets to the chin with the exit wound on the right side of the head were determined to have been fired by the decedent.

The incident’s motivation has not yet been determined.

The corpse is now in the mortuary at Mpeketoni Sub-County Hospital pending the results of the autopsy.
