On Friday, October 14, former Citizen TV anchor Hussien Mohamed was appointed State House Spokesperson.
Joseph Kinyua, the departing Head of Public Service, approved the nomination on behalf of President William Ruto.
Hussein, who had been Ruto’s communications director, was instrumental in Ruto becoming president.
After Kanze, he became the second Citizen TV journalist to serve as State House Spokesperson.
David Mugonyi, who had been Ruto’s director of communications in the Office of the Deputy President, has been elevated to head the Presidential Communication Service (PSC).
The president has given Hussein responsibility for delivering announcements on his behalf and giving updates on a variety of government projects.
At the State House, he will also be in charge of coordinating digital communications, including messaging, research, branding, and press.
