Sources reported a closed-door meeting held between President William Ruto and AUC officials on February 23.
During the meeting, the Kenyan delegation allegedly requested the termination of Raila Odinga’s term as the AU High Representative for Infrastructure due to his involvement in anti-government rallies.
The request was made because Raila was appointed to the post during the tenure of former President Uhuru Kenyatta, who is no longer in power.
Despite the move being supported by Ruto’s allies, Raila maintained that he had requested to exit the post on his own volition.
The termination of Raila’s term as AU High Representative for Infrastructure Development in Africa follows a recent period of political unrest in Kenya.
The AU’s decision was influenced by the Kenyan delegation’s request during a closed-door meeting with President William Ruto on the sidelines of the AU Heads of State and Government Summit.
