“Ruto Rewards Allies with Fresh Appointments!”
President William Ruto is shaking things up in the Kenyan government with a flurry of new appointments to various boards and state corporations. And while these appointments may be seen as a way to align the government with Ruto’s development plan, they’re also being hailed as a reward for Ruto’s closest allies.
“New Leaders Take the Helm!”
One of the biggest changes was the appointment of Jane Lagat as the Chairperson of the Women Enterprise Fund Advisory Board. This savvy businesswoman will be leading the charge for the next three years, starting February 3, 2023. The same goes for former Chief of Defence Forces, Samson Mwathethe, who has been named the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Kenya Forestry Research Institute. Mwathethe will take over from John Waithaka, whose appointment has been revoked.
The Coast Development Authority also saw some changes, with the appointment of Mzee Mwinyi Mzee as the new chair. He will be stepping in for Philip Charo, who is stepping down. And, in a surprise move, Aden Noor Ali has been named the chairperson of the Board of Directors of the National Transport and Safety Authority, taking over from Agnes Odhiambo.
Ruto also made some key appointments to the State Corporations Advisory Committee, including Joseph Kimani Machiri, Claire Sifuna Wanyama, Ahmed Abdi Rashid, Mary Murangi Mugo, Caroline, and Cherono Kilisha. These six individuals will be serving for the next three years, starting February 3, 2023.
The appointment of Dennis Awori (Amb.) has been revoked, but with all these new appointments, it’s clear that President Ruto is serious about making changes in the Kenyan government.
