Taifa Gas, a Tanzanian LPG supply company owned by Rostam Aziz, has been granted a license by the Kenyan government.
The license is for the construction of a cooking gas plant and storage facilities at Mombasa port.
The aim of the project is to create competition in the sector and reduce consumer prices of the commodity.
The project involves building a 30,000-tonne facility near the port of Mombasa.
The facility will be capable of storing propane, butane, and LPG of various grades for domestic, commercial, and industrial use.
The government has allocated a 30-acre land parcel for the project.
The project was earlier estimated to cost $130 million (Sh16.25 billion).
Taifa Gas, previously known as Mihan Gas Tanzania Ltd, has been in the LPG industry since 2005.

The company is headquartered in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
Kenyan President William Ruto will attend the ground-breaking ceremony of the Taifa Gas LPG terminal in Mombasa.
This project will bring competition to the sector and offer an opportunity for Kenya to lower cooking gas costs, benefiting consumers and the economy as a whole.
