Raila Odinga, the leader of the Azimio party in Kenya, criticized Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for comparing the government of Kenya to a company with shareholders.
Odinga accused Gachagua of ignoring a section of Kenyans who did not vote for President William Ruto and stated that the government would be affected by Gachagua’s pronouncement.
Odinga argued that the government would be nothing without the people who enable it.
During the burial of Gabriel Wambua Mutua, Odinga claimed that Gachagua’s declaration was one of the reasons why the public should support him in calling for Ruto to step down from office.

Gachagua had said that only those who supported Ruto’s candidacy in the August 2022 election would serve in the government, and positions would be distributed based on what they contributed to the President’s victory.
Odinga pointed out that every Kenyan pays taxes and should be treated equally, adding that the government becomes discriminatory when it comes to job distribution.
Odinga stated that Gachagua’s statements were an attempt to divide the country on tribal grounds and urged Kenyans to unite behind a common goal.
