Raila Odinga, the Azimio Leader, has accused Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki of threatening him.
Odinga alleged that the police plan to disrupt his mass action aimed at pressuring President William Ruto to lower the cost of living, scheduled for March 20.
Odinga claims that the government increased taxation without reducing the cost of basic commodities.
He warned that he would continue protesting if Ruto did not heed his demands.
Martha Karua supported Odinga and warned Kindiki that he would be held responsible if the police injure anyone during the mass action.
Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka blamed the government for plans to triple university fees, which he said would make university education unaffordable.
In response, President Ruto, speaking at an interdenominational Thanksgiving service in Chuka, Tharaka Nithi County, said that demonstrators have the right to hold demonstrations but must obey the law.
