Raila Odinga has announced mass action against President William Ruto’s government after his demands were not met.
He listed the high cost of living, double taxation, importation of GMO, recruitment of IEBC commissioners, victimization of Cherera Four commissioners, and the Supreme Court ruling as reasons for the protest.
Raila claimed that Ruto’s government oversaw looting of public resources, wrong withdrawal of subsidies, and was carrying out double taxation, which was hurting businesses.
He also opposed Ruto’s decision to import Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO) foods and the ongoing process of appointing new Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) commissioners.
The Azimio La Umoja leader declared that the Kenya Kwanza government must go and called on all interested parties to prepare for mass action on March 20, 2023, in Nairobi.
Martha Karua, the Azimio deputy presidential candidate, demanded the prices of all basic commodities to be lowered, as earlier demanded by the Azimio La Umoja Coalition.
