Raila Odinga: International communities didn’t want my presidency

    Published on

Raila Odinga, a former prime minister, claimed that the world community opposed his candidacy because of his proposal to break up market monopolies owned by them.

Raila observed that his aim to make Kenya a manufacturing powerhouse would not bode well with certain foreign monopoly capital while speaking at a book launch on Thursday, October 6 at the National Museum.

In order to lessen the nation’s excessive reliance on imports, Raila had envisioned developing the nation into an exporter of finished products.

Foreign powers apparently saw the agenda as a plan to deny them of raw resources from the country, despite the fact that it was beneficial for the country since it would promote local manufacturing and output.

In support of his assertions, Raila pointed out that most foreign communities were silent despite his camp raised concerns about the irregularities seen in the elections on August 9.

However, Raila emphasized that he will continue to advocate for election changes and the country’s economic transition. He ruled out organizing any sort of demonstrations but promised to hold the administration accountable.
