Ruto chastises Raila for questioning DCI probe

    Published on

President William Ruto has stood by his decision to abolish the deadly DCI Special Service Unit.

While launching the State of the Judiciary report on Friday, Ruto also rejected an idea proposed by leader of the opposition Raila Odinga to have elite foreign investigators like Scotland Yard look into extrajudicial deaths.

According to Ruto, Kenya does not require assistance from or consultation with institutions established by other countries.

We should have faith in our own institutions just as much as we do in the ones we admire, like Scotland Yard and the FBI, which were created by nations that value rule of law and trust in the value of institutions.

Former IEBC Information and Communications Technology Manager Chris Msando was murdered, and Raila had urged the president to enlist the services of the elite Scotland Yard to investigate.

“I have no doubt in my mind that we can eliminate and dismantle the killers and units within our police force without the help of Scotland Yard.” he stated.
