In regard to the use of firearms by police in times of danger and to defend property, President William Ruto has mirrored the sentiments of Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome.

Police have the appropriate assistance and equipment to confront instability, and Ruto stressed they may use guns when required and not allow criminals to be in charge.

On Wednesday, the President addressed the Kenya Kwanza Parliamentary group meeting held at State House.

“Our cities and the rest of Kenya cannot afford to be overrun by criminals. We’ve provided the means for you to succeed. So long as you follow the law and the constitution, you will be able to deal with criminals in a tough, decisive, and conclusive manner.” Says Ruto.

There will be no tolerance for criminals running the city and endangering residents’ safety, he declared.

In regard to the recent crime wave, the President has stated that the police have no room for excuses.

When Ruto took office, he promised to work with the Ministry of the Interior to rid Kenya of lawbreakers and terrorists.
