    Ruto meets with Bill Gates to discuss healthcare, food security, and ICT.

    On Wednesday, October 16, President William Ruto met with American philanthropist Bill Gates at the State House in Nairobi.

    The President mentioned his interest in working with Microsoft’s founder to make healthcare more accessible via the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) program during their meeting.

    As for working with the billionaire to improve food security in the nation, he said it was an interest of his as well.

    The President of Kenya expressed gratitude to Bill Gates for his many contributions to Kenya, citing the positive effects they were having on the lives of ordinary citizens.

    At the meeting on Wednesday, Ruto oversaw a Kenyan team that included Treasury CS Njuguna Ndung’u, Health CS Susan Nakhumicha, and Agriculture CS Mithika Linturi.

    Conversely, Gates was accompanied by staff members from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

    He arrived on November 15 and spoke with farmers and healthcare workers in Makueni county.

    The billionaire has pledged Ksh170 billion to help alleviate climate change and drought in Africa, two of the most pressing issues facing the country of Kenya.

    Thursday, November 17th, the billionaire will speak to students at the University of Nairobi (UoN) on climate change.
