Thursday, December 8, President William Ruto issued an order to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) to surrender a piece of land adjacent to the Technical University of Kenya (TUK).

Ruto said the land would provide additional room for the university to build necessary facilities and accommodate more students while speaking at the opening of a newly built tuition block at the institution.

He requested that the institution collaborate with the MFA to come up with a plan that would free up additional area near the university’s Main Campus.

Additionally, Ruto said that as part of the affordable housing plan, his administration would assist TUK in building over 5,000 hostels for students via the Department of Housing and Urban Planning.

Concerns over a broken footbridge at the institution’s Haile Sellasie Avenue crossing point were addressed by Ruto, who promised that his government would act quickly to fix it and make it functional for the students.
